Mary W - week 4
I received some comments that I’m discouraging people with my “fast stitching”. I really hope this is not true!!! I stitch fast because I have nothing else to do so I dedicate a lot of my time stitching. I’m not looking this as a competition or that someone will be a winner (or better as one mail said) if finish it faster. Each persons has her/his own rhythm and enjoy doing it that way. Stitching for me is more than a hobby, it helps me to pass difficult moments and allow me to create beautiful things and memories of them.
He recibido algunos mail acerca de que estoy desmotivando gente con mi “rapidez al bordar” Realmente espero eso no sea cierto!! Yo bordo rapido porque no tengo mas nada que hacer asi qyue dedico una gran parte de mi tiempo al bordado. Yo no veo esto como una competencia o que alguien sera ganador ( o mejor como me dicen en un mail) si termina antes. Cada persona tiene su propio ritmo y disfruta haciendolo de esa manera. Bordar es para mi mas que un hobby, me ayuda a pasar momentos dificiles y me permite crear cosas y recuerdos lindos de esos tiempos no tan faciles.
Going back to Mary, each day I’m more in love with this chart. I have been personalizing it not just with the colors but also the initials for my family members, the flowers that go in the blue medallions will be substituted by one of my little creatures, I want them to be part this too. I’m following Jaqueline’s Sugestion and I’m doing a little biography to insert in the back of the framing. I’m making a scrapbook with pictures and a little about me, I’m pretty bad doing the last part, so it will be literally a little!!
Volviendo a Mary, Cada dia esto mas enamorada de esta pieza. La he ido personalizando no solo con los colores sino tambien con las letras que hora son iniciales de miembros de mi familia, las flores que van en el medallon azul seran sustituidas por una de mis pequeñas criaturas, yo quiero que ellas sean tambien parte de mi tela. estoy siguiendo la sugerencia de Jaqueline y estoy haciendo una mini scrapbook con fotos de mis progresos y algo acerca de mi, soy bastante mala para escribir acerca de mi asi que esa parte sera muy chica!!

It’s now officially done!! 33% of the chart is stitched and I’m waiting to download part 4!!!
Ahora si termine mi tercera parte!!
I have been making some adjustments, I like certain asymmetry in the medallions, but some of them are too much for me, since I’m not making a reproduction, ( I already changed all the colors) I “corrected” some of them, others I just left them that way. If you want to do the same thing in yours, you can save some time by visiting Jen’s, which she kindly posts regularly her own corrections of the medallions.
He hecho algunos cambios. Me gusta la asimetria en los medallones, pero algunas son mucho para mi, dado que no estoy haciendo una reproduccion ( ya cambie los colores) “corregi” algunas de las existentes, otras las dejare tal cual. Si quieres hacer lo mismo en tu tela, puedes ahorrarte algo de tiempo visitando a Jen quien amablemente publica en su blog sus propias correciones de los medallones.
Another big change that I made was changing the initials. I’m using my family’s instead. Up until today I have on it my parents, my DH Parents, and my kids. Inside the medallion I put my oldest son’s who passed away eleven years ago when he was 5.
Otro cambio que hice fue cambiar las letras. estoy usando en lugar de las publicadas las de mi familia. hasta hoy estan ya en la tela las de mis padres asi como las de los padres de mi esposo y la de nuestros hijos. Dentro del medallos coloque las iniciales de mi hijo mayor quien fallecio hace 11 años a la edad de 5 años.

I’m a little behind, but I hope I can catch up this weekend. I want to finish this piece in 10 weeks max, wish me luck!!

I’m expecting my niece (picture above) and nephew’s visit soon. I only have one sister and I’m really excited with the idea of having them here for a couple of weeks!!! I’m stitching my niece a set for her stuff with nesting dolls or Matrioshkas. On Monday I posted a small pic of the little one promising as a today’s chart, here it is.
Estoy esperando la visita de mis sobrinos para pronto. Solo tengo una hermana y estoy muy emocionada con la idea que pasen un par de semanas aca en mi casa!! When I read on Needleprint that Mary W will release as a SAL I knew that I needed to stitch it immediately!! This is such a lovely piece and I know that stitching it in a SAL I would be able to do it faster than if I just stitched it by myself.

The first thing to do is stitch it on time, I know that if I fall behind I will never finish it in a timely fashion but in 1 year maybe, so I have to hurry up!! I’m still on my diet (or a StRIPper whatever you prefer to call it) So I have to start it with fabrics that I have at home, I don’t know if you check but this is a big piece -290×300 stitches aprox.- I didn’t have any linen or evenweave in that size, but I have a lot of aida for the time that I used to buy it by yard, an antique white sounds good, next step, the threads.
Mi primero compromiso es bordarla en el tiempo que se ofrece, se que si me atraso no la terminare en un tiempo corto sino en quizas un año, asi que me tenia que apurar!!. Todavia estoy en mi dieta asi que debia empezarla con tela que tuviese en casa. No se si han visto los detalles de la pieza, pero es bastante grande, unos 290×300 puntos. No tengo en casa ningun lino o evenweave de tamaño apropiado, pero tengo monton de aida en trozos grandes de el tiempo en que solia comprarla por yarda. Blanco antiguo me gusta, asi que pasar al proximo paso, los hilos!!
I look for the DMC Colors and after that I start looking in my HDF threads, those silks are soo good!!!. No time for buying, how about if I look into my stash for the closest one? I was thinking in using some variegated on the sampler and that made easier my selection.
Busque los DMC que piden y despues de eso empece a ver mis hilos de HDF. Esos hilos son tan buenos de bordar!!!! No hay tiempo para comprar ( mi dieta no incluye hilos) pero que tal si busco ente las que tengo por las mas cercanas en colores? como queria que algunas fuesen matizada, la seleccion se hizo mas facil.
Some of the floss are mystery spools (from my d-bags) but I can put almost the complete “conversion” here.
