And I hope I'm not being insensitive when i say this (you can delete if you want) look at it from his perspective. He's been through it with you as well all those times and maybe doesnt want to fight it. Make as many good memories as you can in the time that you have and say goodbye to him on his terms rather than your own if thats what he wants.
