Since I saw for the first time Isabelle Vautier’s Grand Marquoir I knew that I would love to see it in my Craft Room. Because this is a huge project, and I want to have it done in a reasonable time, I spoke with my friend Yaydik and we decided to stitch it as a SAL. I started last year but we committed ourselves to starting this month and to stitch one block per week. That way, it will be finished by the end of the year.

Desde que vi por primera vez Gran Marquoir de Isabelle Vautier, supe que me encantaria tenerlo bordado en mi cuartito de bordado. Dado que es una pieza de tamano considerable y quisiera tenerlo listo en un tiempo rasonable hable con mi amiga Yaydik y decidimos bordarlo como SAL. Ya habia empezado el anyo anterior pero nos comprometimos a bordar un bloque por semana, de esta manera lo tendremos listo antes que finalice el 2012

The original chart was intended to be stitched almost as a monochromatic on red with a few shades on ecru. We are giving it our personal touch, Yaydik is stitching it in Lilac and green tones over Fairy Dust Lugana.
El esquema original fue disenado con la idea de ser bordado en rojo con algunos pocos toques en ecru. Nosotras estamos dandole nuestro toque personal. Yaydik lo esta bordando en tonos lilas y verdes sobre Lugana  “fairy Dust”

Mine is a multicolor version with my favorite palette of DMC flosses over Antique White Jobelan.

Mi version es multicolor con mi paleta favorita de colores en DMC en Jobelan Blanco Antiguo.

Nos vemos el viernes con un nuevo avance!

Con esta actividad comenzamos el anyo las nenas del Foro Acerca del Bordado. Todas las luna llena mostraremos un envase con los hilos que nos han ido sobrando de las labores. Al final del anyo rellenaremos un biscornu disenado especialemente para la ocasion.

Como veran mi frasco esta completamente vacio, este ultimo mes no he bordado absolutamente nada ( verguenza…) entre las fiestas, viajes para visitar a familiares del costillo  y la celebracion de mi aniversario de bodas numero 20 (del que hablare en un post aparte) el bordado se vio resentido.

Ya he puesto manos a la obra y retornado mis labores el dia de hoy, ayuda que uno de mis grupos de bordado se reune en Crafty Ewe esta noche y seguro entre galletas, cafe y risas algunas puntadas extras dare, ya veremos la proxima luna como me fue!!!

This last weekend one of DH Christmas Parties was at Boston and I “sacrificed” myself and flew to be with him.

The party was on Friday, so Saturday morning we went to Salem.

La fiesta fue el viernes, el sabado en la manana fuimos a Salem.

Like the tourist that we were, we walked following the red line that is on the street and surrounds all the historic points  that were in the map.

Como turistas que eramos caminamos siguiendo la linea roja que esta en la calle y que marca los sitios historicos en el mapa

after lunch we drove South and went to Plymouth

Despues de la comida manejamos hacia el sur y llegamos a Plymouth

Sunday  morning we walked through the beach that was in front of the hotel that we stayed at in Nantasket Beach

El domingo en la manana caminamos por la playa que estaba en frente del hotel donde nos quedamos en Nantasket

and drove back to the airport but not without stopping at the Museum of Fine Arts of Boston, where they have an exhibition of Embroideries of Colonial Boston.

Y manejamos ya regreso al aeropuerto, no sin antes parar en el museo de finas artes de Boston donde tienen una exhibicion de Bordado del Boston Colonial

it is a small exhibition but the pieces were so beautiful! before I left the Museum i stopped at the gift shop and found this book!!
Es una muestra pequena, pero las piezas eran tan bonitas!! antes de dejar el museo pare en la tienda del mismo y mira lo que consegui

I came back home completely energized and full of new ideas for more designs! See you soon with news about the forum
