Former defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed he could not believe Manchester United were selling Danny Welbeck, as he viewed him as a valuable asset to the club.

The 33-year-old forward came through the Red Devils’ academy at the age of eight, progressing through to the first-team and making over 100 appearances for the club before being sold to Arsenal in 2016 when Louis van Gaal was in charge. Welbeck then moved to Watford in 2019 before joining Brighton the following year.
Welbeck scored against Manchester United as the Seagulls beat his former club 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, taking his career tally to 100.
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of the game, Rio told Welbeck: “Nothing surprises me about Danny Welbeck. I’ve seen him play for Manchester United since I was a kid and he’s a great player.
“I can’t believe United are letting him go because สมัคร ufabet I think he’s so valuable. Not just as a player but as a player for the club coming through the academy.”
“I think he’s a player who is respect more by the opponents he’s play against than by the fans who don’t really understand how difficult he is to play against. He’s also a great professional.”
